Obituary

The VHPA has been notified of the death on Glenn E. Granberry, 72 of Tyler, Texas.
He died February 5, 2012, he was a graduate of Flight Class 66-3 and flew with the Sabres from May 1969 through May 1970.
Mr. Granberry was born March 23, 1939, in Red Springs, the son of the late George F. and Viola (Blalock) Granberry. He passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, in Winona, Texas. Mr. Granberry returned to the Tyler area in 1981, after retiring from the military, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winona. He was a retired major in the United States Army, serving two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association. After retiring from the Army, he flew helicopters for Petroleum Helicopters Inc., serving the offshore oil industry. Later he became part owner of Brothers Manufacturing in Winona.
Glenn was a devoted husband and adoring father. Mr. Granberry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George "Buddy" Granberry, Henry "Cotton" Granberry; and sisters, Lillian Vickers and Marie Morris.Pallbearers will be William Morris, Charles Granberry, George Steich, George Hitt, Martin Granberry and Jesus Vallejo.The family requests that donations be made to the SPCA of East Texas, P.O. Box 2026, Tyler, 75710; or Prince of Peace Catholic Church building fund, 903 E. Main St., Whitehouse, 75791.
He is survived by his wife, Uschi Granberry of Tyler; son, Stephan Granberry and wife Wendy of Flower Mound; daughter, Andrea Schliemann and husband Bruce of Austin; grandsons, Lane and Evan Granberry of Flower Mound, Nicholas Schliemann of Austin; brothers, Carl Granberry of Winona, Doug Granberry of Worland, Wyo.; sisters, Marian Steich of Winona, Polly Vickers of Winona, Lee Oma Lindsay of Tyler and Ana Lois Wilbourn of Wills Point; and numerous nephews and nieces.
